Faith Formation for grades PK-6 is offered on Sunday mornings at 10:15 a.m. in Hailstones Hall next to the Chapel on the campus of Xavier University. Our three and four-year-old children engage with a curriculum with elements of Montessori education. The children “grow in God’s love,” awe, and wonder at the works of creation.
The program for K-6 grade uses resources from Loyola Press and incorporates the Sunday Gospel story. The program gives children a solid foundation in Catholic teaching and practice giving our children a foundation for appreciating God’s gifts of creation and understanding the symbols and practices of worship and prayer. This program conveniently fits between our 9:00 and 11:30 Masses so families can participate in the Eucharist before or after sessions.
*Students with special needs are fully included in all our parish programs. Volunteers are available to “companion” them, as the student and family desire. Parents are welcome to volunteer in any of our children’s programs as catechists, aides, substitute teachers, or musicians. All who volunteer with children must complete SafeParish training from the Archdiocese, have a background screening, and maintain compliance with the SafeParish requirements.
Since COVID19 suspended public liturgies in 2020, we designed a Children’s Faith Formation Resources website. We currently have an option for an in-person class. Still, we continue to use the website as an ongoing learning library of resources for our families. In addition to information about our current GIFT program, it is an archive for our summer V.B.S. resources and First Communion preparation. There are also ideas for setting up a prayer space at home, community-based outreach, and seasonal crafts.
We have ongoing enrollment for our GIFT program. Register here to join our families during the 2021-2022 school year.
