Confirmation is one of the three Sacraments of Initiation. The Sacrament of Confirmation seals the baptized with the gifts of the Holy Spirit by anointing with chrism and laying on of hands. It strengthens their discipleship as members of the Body of Christ and completes their initiation into the Catholic Church.
Within our Bellarmine parish community, we typically prepare for Confirmation teens in the 9th and 10th grades. The process is led by the Director of Youth Ministry in collaboration with the Director of Parish Life and a team of young adults. The sacrament is celebrated every two years in the spring, preferably during the Easter season in April or May. The formation process for Confirmation involves the teens, their parents, the sponsor, and service opportunity mentors. Youth preparing to receive the sacrament participate in Confirmation Prep sessions, service or mission projects, a retreat, and more. Those seeking to be confirmed are highly encouraged to be active in our parish youth group.
The Confirmation Prep process encourages teens to ask questions, reflect on and deepen their faith commitment, build community, and integrate their reflections into their lives as disciples of Christ. At the end of the program, teens, parents, and sponsors are invited to submit a letter requesting Confirmation for themselves or their candidate. To register for the Confirmation Prep program, use this link to complete the Registration and Release form, and be sure to select Confirmation and Youth Group as two of the programs you are interested in.
